Create a Valentine’s boudoir with Tomlinsons
With Valentine’s Day looming the pressure is on to create a sexy and memorable day for your loved one. But instead of going out, why not create a boudoir at home that you and your other half won’t want to leave?

For dramatic impact nothing beats the four-poster; especially when it includes a romantic canopy, or better yet, curtains that can be drawn around to create a naughty little hideaway.
Tomlinsons currently have a beautiful Georgian four poster bed in Mahogany in stock from circa 1790 that is perfect for some good old-fashioned romance. According to Sarah Worrall, sales director at Tomlinsons, the bed has fabulous authentic hangings in Italian fabric in keeping with the period and is lined in yards of ochre silk for a sumptuous look.
For those fancying more of an ‘ooh la la’ theme for some French-style loving, Tomlinsons also have some fantastic French furniture. Currently in stock is a gorgeous 19th Century French sleigh bed in birds eye maple with a scroll topped head and foot board giving way to gently dipped side rails. It even comes with its own fascinating piece of history having been made by Othon Kopling, a famous furniture maker active in Paris between 1800 and 1848. Kopling acquired orders from the court of Napoleon I and Charles X so you really could be a sleeping beauty in this bed.
“Because we buy from all over the world, we can usually source any item, whether it’s a classic Georgian four poster or funky Art Deco bed,” says Sarah. “We have over 5,000 items of stock in at any one time and more than 2,000 new items arrive each month.”
Tomlinsons also stock items like antique chandeliers and mirrors that can really add some intense glamour to your bedroom. “We currently have a an eye catching late 19th century French black and gilt mirror that would be perfect for the Boudoir look,” says Sarah.
So with your bedroom kitted out in lavish furniture, all you need now to spice things up is to indulge in some extras like satin sheets, scented candles, a luxurious rug, plush cushions and a throw.
And not forgetting the final touches - a trail of rose petals from the front door, to the boudoir, to the bed. The only thing left to do will be to put the lights down low, lie back and enjoy…
