Ooh la la – Yorkshire antiques dealer introduces first regular supply of continental furniture to satisfy customer demands
Tomlinsons Antiques has launched a unique new service to ensure that a steady supply of fine continental furniture is available to antique lovers throughout Yorkshire.
As the leading British supplier of antiques to the UK and overseas trade and Europe’s largest antiques warehouse, Tomlinsons, based near Wetherby, has recently begun making regular trips across the channel to satisfy customer demands for more diverse antique furniture.
The service is the first of its kind to be introduced to the region and offers customers the chance to acquire distinctive continental antiques, saving hours of painstaking work searching for a desired item.
Sarah Worrall sales director at Tomlinsons says: “The trips will allows us to offer a bespoke service whereby we can track down exceptional and singularly unique pieces from across Europe for our customers. The regularity of the visits means we will be able to respond to and satisfy requests for European pieces much more quickly than previously.
“Continental furniture can create an atmosphere of European flair and beauty, whether it be formal or elegantly casual. We want to help our customers create such an environment even if it means travelling hundreds of miles to find the right piece.”
Recent trips have taken in Brussels and Southern Holland, during which many beautiful pieces of both restored and unrestored continental furniture have been sourced, all with a distinct French theme.
One item of furniture brought back last week from a trip abroad is a magnificent French marquetry bed in exotic woods from circa 1890 – 1910 priced at £4,750+VAT. This imposing Louis XV style bed has been fully restored by Tomlinsons and makes an exquisite centrepiece for any period bedroom.
Another unique find has been an entire French Napoleon III Salon Suite from circa 1860 – 1870. The magnificent suite has carved guilt surrounds and crest comprising of a feather and scroll motif. The suite consists of four side chairs, two armchairs and a sofa, all raised on French and carved supports and is priced at £10,000+VAT.
