NATIONAL ANTIQUES DAY
An opportunity to take a look inside the largest antique warehouses in Europe … at Tockwith in Yorkshire

Building on the success of National Antiques Day in previous years, antiques dealers throughout the country are preparing for the seventh annual event on Friday 22nd October 2004.

The aim of the event is to publicise the advantages professional dealers offer to buyers of antiques and to introduce newcomers to the world of antiques.
Dealers are hoping to help people discover the rewards of purchasing collectables and practical antiques, such as furniture, that appreciates in value whilst being appreciated in the home.

Throughout Britain, dealers are running initiatives to draw attention to their own businesses and the antiques trade in general.  People in Yorkshire are particularly fortunate as the largest antique warehouse is on the doorstep at Tockwith in York and will this year be participating in National Antiques day for the first time.

Visitors can be assured that Tomlinsons’ finest quality, restored antique furniture, comprises the crème de la crème of the antique’s world. Their buyers travel the world for the very best pieces and buy primarily from country house estate clearances. However, they reject 95% of all furniture they see. As a result, Tomlinsons’ customers know that they are being offered only the very top 5% of restored antiques from any period.

Visitors on National Antiques day will be able to walk into a Victorian parlour, Edwardian dining room, or Georgian bedroom, whilst the company’s experts explain how to date furniture accurately and identify the finest pieces. For those whose imagination has been whetted to learn more about antiques, there will consequently be an opportunity to join Tomlinson’s fine furniture club.

Sarah Worrall, Sales Director of Tomlinsons said:

“We are pleased to be participating in National Antiques Day and to offer the widest number of people an opportunity to discover the world of antique furniture for themselves.  Some people are inhibited about discussing buying antique furniture as it can be quite a rarified world, however at Tomlinsons we guarantee not only an instructive experience but a warm welcome.”

Anyone who is interested in visiting Tomlinsons on National Antiques Day should call 01423 358833 before Friday 22nd October.
